Satyaraja writes about this retreat:
“This is a one month, mostly silent meditation retreat, at Guhyaloka for about 16 or 20 men Order members with a good level of meditation experience and who are comfortable with long periods of silence. September is one of the most beautiful months at Guhyaloka with perfect temperatures. And there is nowhere like Guhyaloka for serious meditation retreats.
The retreat will be based on the Order Insight retreats which we used to practice at Vajraloka during the early 1990s, when I lived there. I found them extremely effective and inspiring. The retreat is based around the traditional antidotes to the 5 poisons – Mindfulness of Breathing counters distraction and develops one-pointedness of mind; Metta Bhavana counters anger and is the basis of all positive emotions; Reflection on the Root Verses of the 6 Bardos counters craving and develops tranquility; Contemplation of the 6 Elements counters conceit and develops egolessness; Reflection on the 24 Nidanas counters spiritual ignorance and develops wisdom and confidence.
I will introduce each of the practices during the first half of the retreat and the second half will be given mostly to open periods of meditation practice. There will be meditation reviews and puja.”
